Uruan Lawmaker gets thumbs up on Constituency Briefing, Empowerment
… Makes case for abandoned Issiet Ikim Model School

The Member Representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has been commended, for justifying the mandate bestowed on him by the people.
Giving the commendation, Thursday, at the just concluded Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Programme, hosted by the Lawmaker, Governor Udom Emmanuel, represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr Akan Okon, saluted the Uruan born politician for his sterling performance in the State House of Assembly, and described the Empowerment Programme as a show of love and gratitude to his people.

Uruan Local Government Council Secretariat, Idu Uruan, venue for the event, vowed to complete ongoing projects in the Area, and urged them to remain steadfast with the PDP-led administration in the State.
Governor Emmanuel while urging the people to take advantage of the ongoing Voter’s Registration Exercise, cited some of his achievements in the area to include the Akwa Prime Hatchery at Mbiaya, Ranch at Acadia, Unity Luxury Estate at Ibiaku Issiet/Obio Ndoho, and the19.3 KM Anua-Mbak-Issiet road and the Ndueyong-Ita-Mbiakong Roads.
Also Speaking, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Onofiok Luke said members of 6th Assembly have ensured the success of the PDP in 2019 polls by sixty percent, saying they have all given their account of stewardship as Lawmakers.
He called on Uruan people to ensure the reelection of Hon. Aniekan Bassey, saying he has not failed in his legislative duties but has justified the confidence reposed in him by the people.
On his part, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom, Obong Paul Ekpo, lauded members of the 6th Assembly for reaching back to their people, and particularly praised Hon. Aniekan Bassey for not disappointing news Party and Uruan people.
Ekpo said the Lawmaker has, through the event, portrayed the Party in good light, adding the PDP remains the only Party with the interest of the people at heart.
Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Henry Isaiah, in his welcome address, described the tenure of Hon. Aniekan Bassey as people oriented, stressing that the Lawmaker make has improved upon the achievements of his predecessors since assumption of office.
The Council helmsman while thanking Governor Emmanuel for his giant strides in Uruan LGA, vowed to continually partner with the lawmaker, in order to attract more democratic dividends to the people.
In his remarks, the House Member, Hon. Aniekan Bassey, thanked God for granting him the benevolence to justify the Mandate given to him by the people, and further lauded the Elders, stakeholders and entire people of Uruan, for their immeasurable sacrifices, labour of love, encouragement, support towards Governor Udom Emmanuel, which he noted has helped him excel in his legislative duties.
Briefing his constituents, Bassey who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Science and Technology, said he has sponsored and co-sponsored several Bills and Motions, as well as matters of urgent public importance, which he added, have direct bearing on Uruan people.
On the empowerment item dolled out at the event, he said, “everything given out today is part of the dividends of good governance and political inclusivity made possible by the Udom-led administration owing to your massive support and 100 percent loyalty.”
He particularly thanked Governor Emmanuel, for his keen interest in Uruan progress and appointment Uruan indigenes into key positions of authority and also lauded the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke, and his colleagues for their support and encouragement towards his legislative responsilities.
The Lawmaker however appealed for the completion of the abandoned Model School at Issiet Ikim, built in memory of the Late Chief Nyong Essie, saying, it should also be transformed to a Vocational and Skills Acquisition Centre, by the State Government.
He appealed to those not accommodated in the empowerment programme to remain calm, maintaining they will be reached in due course.
Others who spoke at the occasion included the Chairman, Akwa Ibom Roads and other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency (AKROIMA), Prince Godwin Ntukudeh, a former Lawmaker from the Area, Rt. Hon. Usenobong Akpabio and Member Representing Uyo Federal Constituency, Hon. Mike Enyong, all threw their weight behind the second term bid of Governor Emmanuel and Hon. Bassey.
