The statutory delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) comprising of Chapter Executive Officers, Ward Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, Councillors, Youth and Women leaders in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have risen to adopt the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, and the member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Mark Esset, as their sole candidates come 2019.

Speaking during the solidarity visit to House Member at the Conference Hall of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the party delegates unanimously gave their resolve to return Gov Udom Emmanuel to the Hilltop Mansion and Hon. Mark Esset to the 6th Assembly come 2019.

According to the statutory delegates, the decision was a show of solidarity and support and to align with the good things the Governor has done for the people of Nsit Atai in particular and Akwa Ibom State at large, noting that Nsit Atai is not lacking behind when it comes to infrastructure and good road networks as well as employment and appointments which have never been in the history of the local government.

Speaking on behalf of the Chapter Leader, Akparawa Asuquo Umo, said that God has blessed Nsit Atai with a man with effective representation in person of Hon. Mark Esset who does not want to know where someone comes from before he renders help, as he carries his elders along in all his activities and holds the local government in high esteem.

Also speaking on behalf of the 9 Councillors of Nsit Atai, Hon. Iniobong Sunday Obot, said that Gov Emmanuel has done excellently well in terms of developmental infrastructure in the area, adding that the local government has a good representative in person of Hon. Mark Esset, and moved the motion to endorse the House member for second term seconded by Hon. Sunny Jack, Councillor representing Ward 5.

The Nsit Atai Political Leader and Coordinator, Divine Mandate of Udom Emmanuel 2019, Atuekong Raphael Bassey, in his remarks, noted that what the statutory delegates have done was a clear indication of Nsit Atai onward match towards the future to create awareness and solidarity for what Gov Emmanuel has done in the state.

He stated that the polity of Nsit Atai is very stable and well organised, and urged Akwa Ibom people not to listen to grumblers are out for their selfish interest but not for the interest of the masses, adding that only disgruntled elements who will never see anything good about someone except themselves, will go about complaining with an intent to tarnish people’s images

Atuekong Raphael called on the people to shun politics of sentiment, saying that he has assessed Mark Esset to be a good representative. “Hon Mark has done well for the people of Nsit Atai and the party. It is one thing to have a structure in place and another to nurse the structure.

The Political Leader used the occasion to warn Nsit Atai people against involvement in diabolic politics which he said Hon. Mark and Gov Emmanuel have done everything possible to abolish in the local government and the state at large, saying that those who perpetrate the act are elements of doom.

PDP Zonal Officer, Hon. M. C. Akpan, in his goodwill message, noted that Mr. Udom Emmanuel is number 1 Governor in Nigeria who pays workers salary even without receiving federal allocation accruable to the state.

He disclosed that no project was commissioned in Nsit Atai for 15 years until Gov Emmanuel came on board with several road infrastructures, hospitals, schools, industries, empowerment programmes for youths, women, and elders, and returned the party to the people.

Campaign Manager of Unity Project part 3, Rt. Hon. Akpan Monday Akpan, commended Gov Emmanuel for the construction of the Idiaba – Nung Udoe road which had been a dead trap in the time past.

Also speaking at the event were former Chapter Secretary and Transition Chairman, Barr. Peter Ndem; Vice Chairman, Nsit Atai LGA, Hon Idorenyin Inyang; immediate past Transition Chairman, Otuekong Uduak Ekpeowo; and immediate past Chapter Chairman, Bishop Ime Ekpe, describing Gov Emmanuel as a Natural Habitat for Infrastructure and Social Amenities.

In his response, the visibly elated member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA), Hon. Elder Mark Esset, expressed appreciation to the delegates for the encomiums poured on him and the Governor, and pledged to give them better effective representation come 2019 and beyond because well-done means more work to be done.

He thanked the delegates for aligning with the good things the Governor has done in the state in general and Nsit Atai in particular, and called on the people to continue to pray for him for the grace to continue, noting that “Giving is a gift. You can have heaven and earth but without the gift of giving, you can’t share with others.

“Your actions today has put a stop to all those rumour mongers. We cannot afford to sacrifice superlative performance, popularity and acceptability on anything. In legislative business, your tenure is determined by your performance and acceptability by your people.”

Hon. Mark Esset, while accepting to represent the good people of Nsit Atai till 2023, noted that there is no other option than Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel as Governor come 2019.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Hon. Idongesit, and his Grassroots Reorientation counterpart, Hon. Joseph Okon; Nsit Atai PDP Secretary, Hon. Okon Ekpeowo; Councillors representing the 10 wards in Nsit Atai, ward and chapter chairmen, ward secretaries, and ward women and youth leaders were present at the event.
