AKWA IBOM POSITIONED TO UNLOCK MASSIVE INVESTMENT TO THE HOUSING SECTOR
At the just completed CBN workshop on the Model Mortgage Foreclosure Draft Bill geared towards Creating an Enabling Environment for the Growth of the Housing and Mortgage Sector, Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration received overwhelming applause for its deliberate positioning to attract Investors to the budding Housing Sector in Akwa Ibom State.
The event sponsored by the CBN, The World Bank, Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company and The Federal Mortgage Bank was graced by a strong delegation of the Speaker,Hon Onofiok Luke, Commissioner Ministry of Housing and Special Duties,Hon Akan Okon represented by Hon Udeme Etukeyen Special Assistant to the Governor in the Ministry, Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning-Arc Ime Ekpo as well as the Attorney General represented by Director of Legal Drafting-Mfon Edemekong Esq and the Chairman House Committee on Housing and Urban Renewal-Hon Otobong Akpan captured the audience comprising of delegates from the 36 States with the great opportunities that exists for Investments in the Housing sector.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr Edward Adamu-Deputy Governor(Corporate Services Directorate) of the Central Bank of Nigeria commended States like Akwa Ibom for displaying enormous passion in attracting Investments into the Housing Sector whilst urging other States to join Lagos and Kaduna States to expedite prompt passage of the all important bill to better position their States for the inflow of Housing Refinance and other awaited Technical Assistance from the World Bank and Development Finance Institutions.
Hon Onofiok Luke lent his voice to the brilliant perspective and update presented by the Ministry and expressed willingness to support the State Governor achieve his Impact Investment Agenda for the benefit of Akwa Ibom people.
