AKWA IBOM GOVERNOR REACTS TO DEATH OF A BOY WHO DROWN AT TWO LANES
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has reacted to the death of a 7-year-old boy who recently drowned during a heavy downpour in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital.
Mr. Udom Emmanuel who paid an unscheduled condolence visit to the family of the boy who was identified as Jeremiah Alphonsus, at Akwaefak, Nsikak Eduok Avenue, Uyo arrived the state from an official trip.
The Governor who was in the company of Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem Secretary to the State Government and members of the State Executive Council was led by Mr. Charles Udoh Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
The sympathetic Governor who commiserated with the bereaved father of the deceased, Mr. Ukeme Alphonsus Edet, said the mishap was an accident though very sad and regrettable.
He urged construction companies, especially Julius Berger handling construction work at the site of the mishap to always cordon-off project site to avoid an accident by pedestrians
Governor Udom said “This is purely an accident and I deeply sympathize with the deceased family. I have had a discussion with Julius Berger and instructed them to forthwith barricade all construction sites within the State to forestall a recurrence of ugly incidences like this”
While explaining his ordeal to the Governor, the bereaved father, Mr. Ukeme Alphonsus Edet, said he is still in shock over the incident but expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for the prompt visit to him at his residence.
Recall, when this incidence was first reported on the social media Facebook, Mr. Charles Udoh Commissioner for Information and Strategy visited the bereaved family.
