Ituen Academy of Akwa Ibom paints Delta State orange; thrash MFM of Rivers

The representatives of Akwa Ibom State in the ongoing nationwide League playoffs holding at Oghara Delta State, Ituen Academy FC, today whitewashed Mountain of Fire and Miracle, MFM FC of Rivers State.


In the eight goals thriller, Ituen Academy FC thrashed their opponents with a margin 5 : 3,and are billed to play hosts, Edo state in the final.

The winner of the final league playoffs match will qualify to play in the National finals later in the year.

It will be recalled that, Ituen Academy FC last Sunday, lifted the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, FA, League cup at the Itam sports Centre, having emerged winners of the 2016-17 league season.

In a telephone chat with our correspondent, member representing Itu State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and proprietor of Ituen Academy FC, Hon Prince Idongesit Ituen, congratulated the boys for what he said, was a dominant display and urged them to make Akwa Ibom State proud by painting Delta State orange with a harvest of more goals to win the playoffs and give the state a worthy Anniversary gift.

Ituen commended Governor Udom Emmanuel and the state Football Association for the encouragement and support for the team and pledged to continue to motivate the team to achieve its objectives of identifying and exposing talented youths from the state to national and international stardom in professional football.

Mr Ibah further added that, Prince Ituen sponsored the largest ever football tournament in the state codenamed, Akwa Ibom State Community Shield, where the champions, Ikot Obio Atai FC, smiled home with one million naira prize money, among other rewards for participating teams. Over 90 teams from the various clans and villages in Akwa Ibom State participated in the tourney, he noted.
