Eight years for a Governor in office is a tradition in A’Ibom State – Dr. Nyong

… Anything to the contrary will be injustice

Dr Chris Nyong, a onetime Chairman of Uyo local government area has said that it is a tradition in Akwa Ibom State for governors to stay for eight years when theydo well, and that anything to the contrary will be injustice.

‘’As far as A’Ibom State is concern no other party will ever succeed to win the people’s Democratic Party and I want to tell you that the present challenges, the economic recession the country is facing, the only party that have the capacity and the pedigree to salvage the country is the PDP; forget about defection, it has always been there’’, The former Chairman of Uyo local government area stated.

Dr Nyong made this disclosure while meeting with members of the campaign group which stood for him when he sought to vie for the Uyo Federal Constituency seat in the during the 2015 primary election under the PDP.

Dr. Nyong said he convened the meeting not to tell his supporters he was contesting again, rather to talk to them concerning the re-election of Deacon Udom Emmanuel who he said has performed creditably well within two years in office, adding that they should overlook despaired politicians who were going about deceiving them with fake contract papers. Nyong told the gathering that it was a culture in the state that any governor in A’Ibom must rule for eight years arguing that it will be injustice if governor Udom is denied that office in 2019.

The gathering took place at his residence in Osongama on Thursday 25th May 2017. Dr. Nyong also said any politician who defect to another party because his/her party had instructed him/her to step down from seeking a particular office for another person was not mature, describing such as a political aberration, which according to him was not suppose to be so.

He said as a politician one cannot impose himself against the will of the party and the masses at large, rather it is God who gives power. He commended those that supported his 2015 aspiration and appreciated their effort in attempting to position him in the office of his dream.

The medical practioner called on his fans to continue to unite and work together as a team, adding that God has distinguished them for honor which he said such was coming to fruition as soon as possible.

Also speaking a member of the State Basic Education Board, Otuekong Raphael commended Dr. Nyong for remembering to gather his supporters again, adding that his kind was difficult to find especially in the political society where everyone is overzealous to take any political office by any, saying that Dr Nyong’s example was worthy of emulation.

Speaking in the same vein the Vice Chairman of the PDP Uyo senatorial district Mr. Imo Okon thanked the celebrant for seeing the need to convene those who supported him despite his unfavourable experience. He commended him for not defecting to another party blaming the defection fever on gullible and vulnerable politicians who want power by all means and would always want to over-rule the Party; when they don’t succeed they continue in their prostitution from one party to another. He assured Dr Nyong of the support of his office in future whenever he would call to seek such help.
