CONFUSION: APC MAKES U-TURN, READY FOR LG ELECTION
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom has made a U-turn on its earlier decision not to participate in the local government election which is scheduled for November 11.
“ APC has not boycotted nor withdrawn from the election….The Party is ready and willing to participate in the election upon determination of the matter by the court.” the factional acting publicity secretary, Edet Bassey said in a press statement issued on Sunday night .
“We, therefore, call on our members who aspire to contest the Local Government election to remain calm and continue their consultations.”
The Amadu Attai APC faction had in a press statement issued on Thursday 13th july by its spokesperson, Edet Bassey, that the will not be part of the Local Government Election in Akwa Ibom State.
This U-turn is after Mitchel George faction of the party announced on 15th July its faction intention to be part of election. “we wish to state here that, the All Progressive Congress APC Akwa Ibom State Chapter are very much interested in the forthcoming Local Government Election in Akwa Ibom State, slated for 11th November, 2017 as announced by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISEC). Our letter of intent, signed and submitted by the Acting State Chairman and Publicity Secretary remains valid contrary to the illegal Press release as ordered by the Amadu Atai Illegal faction.”
