**Commissions Eket Ibeno road
** Urges Federal govt to refund all monies spent by AKSG on Federal roads.
The governor of Akwa Ibom state, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, has urged the federal government to refund all monies spent by the Akwa Ibom state on the repairs  and construction of federal roads in the state.
The governor made the appeal during the commissioning of the 19.5km, Eket – Ibeno road, as part of activities to mark his 2nd year in office. The governor noted that the road which leads to Qua Iboe terminal, remains the only road that leads to the operational base of the multinationals operating in the state, but had been abandoned for decades.
He stated with joy that during his campaign in 2015, he had promised the people of the area that if voted in to office as the governor of the state, he will as a matter of urgency, repair the road. While announcing to the people of Eket – Ibeno that he was happy that the promise has been fulfilled, he maintained, unequivocally that the road project was initiated and completed by the state government. He thanked the people of Eket federal constituency for their unalloyed support and promised to do more for them.
Governor Emmanuel stressed that as a people oriented government, his administration had no excuses to give Akwa Ibom people, recession or not, which has accounted to the prompt payment of salaries and sundry entitlements to civil servants and the promotion of policies and projects that will make the state an economic giant within the Gulf of Guinea.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang, thanked the governor for delivering on his campaign promises to the people of the area by constructing the strategic road.
Hon Usoro Akpanuso, Chairman House Committee on Appropriation and Member representing Esit Eket / Ibeno in the state House of Assembly, in his goodwill message, was full of praises for the governor for keeping to his promises and pledged the unalloyed support of the the people of Eket federal constituency and the Akwa Ibom state house of Assembly towards ensuring that he succeeds in his onerous task of turning around the fortunes of Akwa Ibom people for the better.
 The Chairman Transition committee, Eket LGA, Frank Archibong on his part told the governor that his second term in office was assured, following his positive exploits during his first two years in office as executive governor of the state. He noted with satisfaction, the giant strides that the governor has recorded in just two years in office and promised to mobilize all the way for the governor even beyond 2023.
Present at the event were top government functionaries, leaders of thoughts, youth and women groups and a cross section of good people of Eket and Ibeno.
