- EKONG SAMPSON CHALLENGES MEMBERS ON MAXIMUM RESULT
Members of the Local Mobilization Committee in Mkpat Enin LGA have been charged to put up an impressive performance in sensitizing and mobilizing the people of the area towards optimum participation in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise recently inaugurated by INEC in the State.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson gave the charge at the inauguration of the Committee in Mkpat Enin soon after flag-off of the exercise in Uyo, the State capital.
The Special Adviser said Akwa Ibom State Government takes the Voter Registration seriously and that Governor Udom Emmanuel is committed to ensuring optimal utilization of the opportunity by Akwa Ibomites. Hence, a Central Mobilizing Committee has been set up at the State level to drive the exercise, he said, adding the 5-man Local Committees and clan coordinators across the 31 LGAs is to replicate the drive at the grassroots.
The Mkpat Enin born politician, popularly adored by his people as the Onomkpoinam, challenged his kinsmen that Mkpat Enin with 14 Wards, the highest in the State, has no reason for not putting up the most impressive performance in the Continuous Voter Registration participation.
Recounting the benefits Mkpat Enin LGA has received from the present government in the State, ranging from industries, electricity substation, road construction to choice appointments, he charged the people that to whom much is given, much is expected. He therefore charged the committee to do their best to ensure no citizen of the State within the area remains without a voter’s card by 2019.
Stakeholders in the area who the occasion included representative of Mkpat Enin State Constituency in the 6th Assembly of the State Legislature, Hon Otobong Ndem, Transition Chairman, Lady Ekaette Usip, PDP Chapter Chairman, Hon. Anietie Sunday, Eket Senatorial District Chairman of the PDP, Mfon Nkantion, former House Member, Hon. Udobong Ekpo, among others.
