Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel Thursday, led a delegation of the State Executive Council Members to the palace of the Late Paramount Ruler of Onna L.G.A, Akwa Edidem( Dr.) Akpabio Udo Ukpa, commiserating with the family over his demise.
Governor Emmanuel in his funeral oration thanked God for the fulfilled and impactful life the deceased lived.
He described him as a man whose life positively affected everyone across the entire state and the country at large.
The Governor who identified the Patriarch as his hero and strong pillar of support said “it is a pleasure for a son to bury the father and not the other way round”.
He noted that the late Akpabio Udo Ukpa, supported him immensely to become the Governor and added that so far, he believes he has not disappointed him or his family.
Governor Emmanuel described the late Monarch as an all rounder that played major roles in different areas of life socially, economically, politically, traditionally and otherwise.
He particularly acknowledged the family for the respect and honour accorded him as Governor when they requested his presence in the last moments of the Monarch, which enabled him pay his last respect to the late sage.
He prayed God to grant him eternal rest and the wife and the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Governor Emmanuel commended the paramount ruler of Ikot Abasi, Edidem Udo J. Ntukubom for the brotherly role he played in the life of the deceased and thanked him for standing by him even in death.
A representative of the family, Reverend Stephen Udo Ukpa who spoke on behalf of the family of the deceased thanked the Governor for the role he played as a son in the life of the late Dr Akpabio Udo Ukpa until his death.
He thanked him for the huge support to the family and for also standing by them during their period of grief.
Governor Emmanuel later signed the condolence register.
